Its Black August 2026 and Mr Davis is back. Now Dr. Davis after earning a PhD in Education, the class is back to talk origins, the African presence around the world, introductory African American History and the glorious golden age of our ancestors. I have been seeing posts of people suggesting that we as African Americans do not descend from Africa. Speculating that the origins of African Americans can be found in America. That “They Came Before Columbus” by Dr. Ivan Van Sertima suggests that our ancestors do not originate on the continent, however genetics, history, global migration and Van Sertima himself tell a different story. They do not tell a story of a lost connection to the continent, they tell a story about the lost connection to our own history. So this series is not picking up where we left off, it is charting a new beginning, an origin to all humanity, all civilization, and the chartable ancestry of African people around the world. If you don’t know you can know, this class is for you. Thursdays 630 - 830pm during Black August at The Peoples House. Register here:

Mr Davis Classroom is a Black History series designed to combat internalized and interpersonal racism. Mr Hodari Davis has taught Black Studies and African American History for over 30 years. Each dynamic lecture aims to disrupt colonial mindsets and radically alter the way attendees see and understand Black History. Ultimately, these presentations are meant to express traditionally Black cosmologies and positionalities on the narratives that define the lives of Black people. Hodari has two Masters degrees and is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Education at UC Davis. He is a professional teacher with a passion for Black History and Black people. Come through and learn Black HIstory with Mr. Davis
