Social change has always been led by young people, therefore, we must leverage our institutions and programs to support the development of their leadership skills. We need every bit of their imagination, sense of urgency and possibility and energy to create a just and equitable future. But, so often, young people’s voices are treated like they don’t really matter. They are given positions on boards, but don’t have a vote. Youth boards are created that don’t have any connection to the organization’s governance or they are given power with being given the necessary skills to exercise it. In this workshop you will learn strategies for preparing youth for leadership and the organizational structures necessary to put those skills into practice.
