e4e Arts

e4e Arts is the non profit arm of Edutainment for Equity. We interested in the production of Anti Racist Technologies; that is artistic innovations that directly address or confront individualized, interpersonal and institutional racism.   This work involves the strategic developments of initiatives, campaigns, collaborations and productions that blur the line between the professional and personal, between education and entertainment, between social media and social justice, between art and activism. These multi modal projects use mixed modalities in an effort to change the world.

One Nation One Project: Arts for Everybody (Oakland)

e4e Arts is part of a national coaltion callled Arts for Everybody. At a moment when Americans face acute challenges to their individual and collective wellbeing, the audacious new campaign from One Nation/One Project titled Arts For EveryBody is about to prove how the arts can lead to healthier people and healthier communities. Inspired by the 1936 Federal Theatre Project where 18 cities and towns presented their own interpretations of the anti-fascist play “It Can't Happen Here,” Arts For EveryBody will bring together people and communities.

On July 27, 2024, artists, civic leaders, and community health providers in 18 cities and towns across America will simultaneously premiere an array of large-scale participatory art projects which will draw on the sounds, styles, and stories of their communities to answer the prompt “No place like home.” Edutainment for Equity will lead the charge for Oakland, Ca.

Diamond and Bullets

Diamond and Bullets is a project of Edutainment for Equity that was initiated in 2018 and severely delayed and altered by the Pandemic.  Inspired by the State sanctioned murder of Philando Castile, this piece of musical theater is an all vocal experience written by Hodari and Candice Davis principals of e4e, and Cat Brooks legendary activist and theater artist who is also featured as a lead actress in the play.  D&B features music from acapella beatbox group Antique Naked Soul and their 2020 album of the same name.

Diamond and Bullets is intended to provide an empathetic pathway for understanding the rallying cry “Black Lives Matter”, and the sentiment it engenders in the lives of the victims of police violence.  Though the play is based on a true story, it does not intend to be an accurate account of anyones life or love, rather it is a fictional narrative artistically composed as a tool to teach about the impact of interpersonal and institutional racism on the lives and loves of Black people.
